Harpenden East Station
Harpenden's railway history is defined by three distinct lines: the 1860-opened Great Northern line (Harpenden East), the 1868 Midland Main Line (current station), and the 1877 "Nickey Line" branch. Harpenden East closed in 1965, the Nickey Line closed in 1979 and is now a popular cycleway, while the Midland line remains a major Thameslink commuter route to London.
